By collaborating with experts such as Pavol Maliniak, a professor of history at Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, Rastislav Uhrovič, the castle’s manager, historian Daniela Dvořáková, and medieval specialists from the Central Slovakian Museum, the creators aim to transport viewers back in time by several centuries to relive the history of Šášov Castle. The purpose of the film is to offer an expert perspective on Šášov Castle, particularly during the medieval period. Beyond its scholarly focus, the film showcases impressive scriptwriting that weaves factual content with captivating stories and the mystical atmosphere of the Middle Ages—perhaps not always factual, but who can say for sure?
From the very first shot, viewers are meant to be immersed out of their current reality and transported into the distant past. The combination of documentary, live-action, and visual 3D technologies offers a holistic cinematic experience for enthusiasts of Slovakia’s medieval history.
The film about Šášov Castle is being crafted by director Jakub Varinský in collaboration with historian Jakub Masarik and theater fencing group Via Historica.
